Kadomatsu

 The Kadomatsu (Gate Pine), began in the Edo period (1603–1868) of Japan.  Traditionally the arrangement is made of pine sprigs, bamboo and plum blossoms. The kadomatsu is tied together with cord and symbolizes constancy, vitality and longevity.
